A quest is never supposed to be easy, so in a way I am glad I have hit a bit of a rough spot. If everything would run smoothly my quest wouldn’t really be a quest. Lately I have been a little bit uninspired. This mostly stems from the fact that I would love to go and travel to the places Radbod lived, but unfortunately I haven’t really had the chance to travel much. Therefore in my posts I have had to concentrate on the history of the early middle ages and Radbod’s live. Not that I think those post were not important, as I firmly believe that it’s good to first concentrate on some basic knowledge, before delving deeper into a subject.
Today I was supposed to have posted about Radbod’s time in Compiegne, where he studied at the court school of King Charles the Bald, but sitting down to write it I realised I just don’t have enough information about it yet. So instead of writing about Compiegne, I decided to moan about my lack of inspiration. This is most likely not at all interesting for my readers, but as it is part of my quest, I feel it has to be recorded.
In two weeks time I have the final exams of the course I have been following all year. So far, apart from having a class once every fortnight, I haven’t done much about it yet. I’d better start studying, because I really want to pass… I hope that after my exams I will have more time to travel. Cologne and Compiegne, but also Lommegouw (where Radbod was born) are at the top of my list for a visit. Maybe I will then finally see the pictured beautiful Romanesque church in Cologne.
My apologies for this whiny post. I am sure my inspiration will come back soon, so keep reading!

Please don’t worry about it to much! Inspiration comes and goes on secret wings, one day you’re desperate, next day you wake up with a great idea. Just take a brake :)
Thanks, Ria. Maybe I will wake up with a great idea tomorrow. :-)
